OUR STORY

Tin Roof Kitchen & Home was founded in 2008 in El Campo, Texas. We are a full-service wood shop offering a wide range of products and services such as Custom Carpentry, Custom Sawing, Kiln Drying, Milling, Turning, and Planning. Our family owned and operated sawmill is located on our family property, Pratka Ranch, in Lane City, Texas. We personally mill the wood for all of our products and custom projects and are fully equipped to handle millwork up to eight feet in diameter and twenty feet long.

However, our story began long before a single piece of lumber was milled. Tin Roof Kitchen & Home founder, Kurt Pratka, grew up watching and learning from his father Mark Pratka who has always had a talent and passion for woodworking. Mark built Mark's Machine Company, Inc. from humble beginnings to the international business it is today.

In 2017, Tin Roof Kitchen & Home received two awards for excellence in wood design from the Texas Forestry Association. 

We aim to add soul to everyday life by simply blending purpose and passion. Kiln dried and reclaimed straight from nature, every project and product is unique and individually crafted. Building a truly one of a kind piece for your home is a great joy to us. Our line of custom furniture and products are all perfect for any rustic or contemporary decor. We put extreme care and attention to detail into each piece of furniture as we do in all our products. We have built custom tables, counter tops, bar tops, custom entry and interior doors, cabinets, desks, islands, mantles, and almost anything you can think of. From conception to design to installation, we will guide you through creating something very special. Our mission is to create unique projects and help people turn their vision into a reality.

We aim to enhance our customers’ home by bringing together exquisite form and durable functionality in everything we create. We also offer custom engraving and design for added personalization or corporate events and company gifts.

Although we specialize in reclaimed Pecan wood, Tin Roof also offers a variety of domestic and exotic woods that include: Walnut, Maple, Oak, Pecan, Mesquite, Mahogany, Cedar, Padauk, Purpleheart, Teak, African Teak, African Leadwood, African Jacaranda, African Jackalberry, and African Matumi to name a few depending on availability.
